Visual hazards assessment, Vision Problems and Eye safety in the work environment and the role of the optometrist

Worker's health status is easily affected by the lifestyle and environment. They are exposed to the environment, and bad behavior at the workplace that may cause hazards to their health later contributed to poor quality of life, reduced productivity, and economic burden. Eye injuries at the workplace mainly due to not wearing eye protection or non-compliance to eye protection protocols. This behavior has serious complications and exposed the eyes to visual hazards, which lead to vision problems and blindness. These issues had an impact on occupational productivity and safety, economic burden, and quality of life. Malaysia is moving towards industrial revolution 4.0, which requires worker's interaction with the environment, the technology and instrument, and the physical setting at the workplace.  There is an optometrist role to assess and provide intervention to the industrial workers in Malaysia.
