MANAGING CLINICAL PRACTICE THROUGH PUBLIC HEALTH EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE

Public Health Evidence-Based as The ‘Eye-tech’ Practice in managing Clinical Practice

There is a growing concept of utilizing public health evidence-based as the ' eye-tech' practice in managing a clinical practice in optometry.

In recent years, optometric public health concepts have been moving to the forefront and impacting the traditional practice. —and the children's health initiative in the ACA is perhaps the most significant move forward. "There's no reason after January 1 for any child not to have a basic comprehensive eye exam. We've depended on screenings to pick up problems, but we don't have an effective screen, and children all too often go without the care they need. That's why I'm so excited about comprehensive care for children. It's such a major step." Once that baseline is established, future screenings can be effective in detecting myopia. They'll also provide baseline documentation of visual acuity should a child have an injury.
